Open Letter to Temecula, CA

Dear Temecula,

First of all, thanks for being within driving distance. It would have been tough to squeeze one more plane flight out of our budget this summer, and although the drive was long we were happy to spend the time to save the cash. Thank you for having perfect weather. I didn't get sunburned, but as a resident of Fog City I was very grateful to be able to stock up on vitamin D two weekends ago. Thanks, also, for being well outside Los Angeles proper so that the significant other and I had a minimum of bad traffic to deal with. Finally, thanks for producing such a beautiful, kind, funny, caring, energetic, and all-around amazing partner for my little brother. Nobody else would do, and you hit the mark perfectly.

My family thanks you for your part in this new addition to our ranks. Both my little brother and my significant other independently told me the same sweet thing that afternoon, which I think sums up the joy and anticipation I'm feeling right now as the days wind down to the end of July. They each said how excited they are for my (our) wedding because they were both the only boy in their immediate families, and couldn't wait to really have a brother.

Love,

I know, I know

I haven't blogged in more than two months. It's shameful. Despicable, even. I don't really know what happened, except that the end of the spring semester had all its usual craziness, and then I got into a bit of a knitting funk. I am nearing the home stretch on the blanket.

There are two more squares that I have not yet photographed. I've gained a lot of momentum on this project again, which seems typical of the season. I was looking through my notes and realized that I was knitting three or four blocks every year. I thought to myself, why not just knit 7 or 8 blocks this year and finish the darn thing? So that's what I'm trying to do, in between wedding planning and summer classes. My goal is to have the knitting finished before the wedding, so I can take a nice new shiny project on the honeymoon.

Starbuck

Taking pictures is still more of a hassle than it used to be. I have a couple of posts floating around in my head, but the heat seems to be preventing anything from gelling right now, and it's hard to get motivated without much time to photograph everything. But you all deserve better than my excuses. You deserve...

you guessed it...

Gratuitously cute cat photos!
